Nerds Need Feminism Too

It isn't a secret that girls often get edged out of geek culture. As of late that seems to be changing. And huzzah for that! I'm tired of flat female characters whose only purpose seems to be as eye candy or a prize for men to win or rescue. And why is there so much violence? Not to say that there isn't a time or place for it, but does it have to be so often?

 What about those of us who want something different? Well this is what I hope for this blog. I want to highlight the nerd culture that is more feminist friendly. Geared more towards "girls", but enjoyed by all sexes. Be it movie, television, video game, graphic novel, travel destination, craft project, art or anything else I can get my geeky hands on.

As this blog builds it will become a catalog of sorts for your perusal. Feel free to comment and suggest things I should check out. This is a two way conversation!
